Steal Their Style

Recently, I’ve been enamored by the idea of fashion as a form of self-expression. I’ve never quite fit the societal mold I was supposed to, so gathering the “courage” to dress outside of high-school trends wasn’t very difficult; I’ve had a lot of practice with being different. Here’s a school-week’s worth of outfits I’ve worn when I’m not groggily walking through the halls in whatever I slept in the night before.

OUTFIT 1

shirt: redbubble, inspired by frank ocean’s “thinkin’ bout you”

yellow socks: byjamilette banana “kawaii” socks, similar ones can be found here

red socks: jcrew, similar ones can be found here

tights: gap striped tights, similar ones can be found here

cardigan: vintage cashmere cardigan that my sister found at the antique mall, similar one can be found here

skirt: my sister’s old red “cooperative” by urban outfitters skirt, other pieces under that same brand can be found here

shoes: dr. martens 2976 antique temperley chelsea boots in navy

OUTFIT ANTHEM: forrest gump, frank ocean

OUTFIT 2

t-shirt: a kid’s size “our lady of guadalupe” t-shirt that i bought at a catholic convention with the intention of cropping, similar ones can be found here

gray shirt: grey gap long-sleeve, similar ones can be found here

pants: jcrew factory “skimmer pant” in blackwatch

shoes: dr. martens 1461 smooth in cherry red

socks: dr. martens thin stripe short sock in grey + red cotton

jacket: a “hard rock café” denim jacket that i thrifted (for like 8$) at a saver’s in st. louis, similar one can be found here

OUTFIT ANTHEM: cut your bangs, radiator hospital

OUTFIT 3

shirt: a fee lion “glitch tee” that i copped at her show

pants: a kid’s size pair of patagonia base layers, similar ones can be found here

socks: dr. martens thin stripe short sock in grey + yellow cotton

pullover: a sweatshirt i customized on zazzle in the 8th grade which reads “everything always happens so much,” here’s a link to zazzle just in case you want to try and recreate the look

jacket: a sick windbreaker i copped at broad ripple vintage up in indianapolis, similar one can be found here

shoes: adidas kids superstar foundation shoes in core black / running white / black

OUTFIT ANTHEM: loud places, jamie xx ft. romy

OUTFIT 4

shirt: a striped goodwill find, similar one can be found here

pants: essential gap corduroys, but for some reason gap has decided to essentially discontinue making all their good corduroys so i am forced to take my business elsewhere, good patagonia corduroys can be found here

pullover: paying homage to where i will spend the next 4 years with my bennington college sweatshirt, if you feel so compelled to get one as well here’s a link to their online merch store

socks: a pair of wigwams that i got in a four pack, a similar pair can be found here

shoes: i got these woolrich boots on clearance for quite cheap about a year ago, the exact same pair in a different color can be found here

OUTFIT ANTHEM: this year, the mountain goats

OUTFIT 5

shirt: a creamy cropped crew-neck long-sleeve that my mom has had since i was born, something similar can be found here

pants: a pair of uniqlo pants that are definitely pajamas but that i wear out and about because life’s too short to designate certain items of clothing as “at-home” only, similar ones can be found here

cardigan: another vintage cashmere piece that my sister found at the antique mall, similar one can be found here

socks: a pair of gap socks that have mysteriously disappeared into the abyss, another less cute but more current pair of gap socks can be found here

shoes: dr. martens clarissa brando in black

OUTFIT ANTHEM: no witnesses, keaton henson
